Mario Alberto Kempes is an Argentine former footballer, coach and commentator. Nicknamed "El Matador", he played as an attacking midfielder or forward on the left. He was the leader of the Argentine national football team that won the 1978 World Cup, being the top scorer and best player of the tournament. That same year, he would be awarded with the Onze d'or, recognition for the best player in Europe. Kempes is considered one of the great Argentine players in history. He is a member of the Valencia CF Hall of Fame and was elected as the 6th best Argentine player of the 20th century by the IFFHS. He currently works as a sportscaster for the ESPN network. Since 2012 Kempes has been, along with his ESPN partner Fernando Palomo, one of the narrators of the Latin American edition of the EA Sports FIFA video game saga.
